Paestum

Paestum is a unique archaeological site, not just there are three exceptionally well-preserved temples, but also due to the historical landscape in which it is situated. Infact it is still possible to breathe the atmosphere of a ancient past, from the Greek colonisation to the testimonianc es of eighteenth century artists and writers (such as Piranesi, Goethe and many others) and the landing of the Allied forces in 1943 which took place only a short distance away from the temples south of the city of Salerno. Inland and all the way to the south, in Cilento area, the landscape becomes more mountainous. This area, inhabited in antiquity by non-Greek populations, wolves and bears, is now the site of one of Italy’s most beautiful nature reserves, the National Park of Cilento. We will take advantage of being in this wonderful area for visiting a local farm/dairy where the authentic buffalo mozzarella is produced, a lunch in a agriturismo will complete this unforgettable tour.
